My original quit date was August 27th, 2000. I lost my quit sometime in 2006, when I allowed myself to get complacent, and thought I could get away with having a few smokes when I was out having a drink with friends and the like. I started smoking again on and off, but, thankfully, never got back to my previous 2 pack a day habit. But, little by little, I found myself going out of my way to find opportunities and be in places where I could smoke. I desperately wanted to be completely smoke-free again, and stop "yo-yo" quitting once and for all, and now have been quit since August 1, 2011. At times it's not easy, but I've learned that nothing stays the same forever, and there are always good times to follow the bad. I always try to remember that it's always darkest before the dawn.
