Current Mood: Rather Embarrassed
Current Music: Diggin’ A Hole - Big Sugar
I went Christmas shopping today. Being this close to the 25th, it made sense that the number of Christmas shoppers resembled the masses that gather at Mecca during high holidays. I was prepared to do the push and shove right along with em’.
The parking lot was nuts. Drivers had their cars on stealth mode, pretending not to be waiting for that car pulling out of a prized spot, yet zipping into the vacant slot at warp speed once it became available. Why not just park a little further out? The walk might have just done them a bit of good. So, after trekking 8 ½ miles I finally made my way through the doors of Toys R Us relatively unscathed. Only one splash from a puddle on the pant leg meant only once shaking my fist and yelling “Merry %#&@ Christmas” at the Neanderthal that mistook the crowded parking lot for the Indianapolis 500.
The place was jammed with desperate parents cleaning out the shelves of Buzz Lightyear action figures, Barbie and her four piece mansion (pool boy included). I got what I had come for and made a hasty retreat.
I felt lucky to have found what I wanted at a decent price, that the cash register line up moved with efficient speed and that the cashier actually smiled, and bid me a cheery Christmas adieu. Traffic was relatively good on the way home, no snarl ups that are so common at this time of year,...5 maybe 10 minutes longer than usual. I happily found my parking spot had been finally shoveled out properly and a neighbor that I liked stopped to chat for a few minutes. It was sunny, cold but a still day, the fresh air and the talk was refreshing.
After hauling the heavy bags o’ gifts up three flights of stairs and hiding them from prying little peepers, I realized I had a few moments to myself before Spongebob returned from a visit with his father. I put the kettle on and looked forward to a steaming mug of tea, feet up, chillaxin’. Sounds peachy eh? It was! All in all a purdy darned good day!
Well, it was until I saw “it”. In all my hustle and bustle I realized that I had not only spent 2 hours walking around the toy store, but had stood and chatted with a neighbor with my FLY DOWN!!!!!
Oy vey, it’s always sumpin’ idn’t it? *smacks forehead* Thanks for letting me vent *snicker*
