That's tonight, 8:30pm in your local time zone. It is a special cause for me, and I try to post about it every year. Most of the Earth Hours I have celebrated, I shut everything off and read for an hour by candlelight. It makes me feel like I can make a difference.
Many other people have Earth Hour parties, or join the celebration in their towns/neighborhoods. We can also all think about one green thing we can do--that's doable for us--to make better Planet Earth: recycle, stop buying plastics, plant a tree, do a vegetable garden, buy local and/or organic, decide to stop using so many chemicals or pesticides around the home, go to reusable grocery bags (that's one I did a few years back and I love doing this!), lower wattage light bulbs, grow your own sprouts for salads and sandwiches, make a few meals from scratch, read about how food animals are treated in your country, start a compost pile, buy brown coffee filters, go to beeswax or soy candles instead of paraffin, reduce petroleum-based products around the house like Dawn dish soap, etc.---there's a million things to choose from. Every little thing we do DOES make a difference.
If we keep taking baby steps, they eventually become giant strides. Happy Earth Hour to everyone.

Seems like there are more countries joining Earth Hour every year.
Its wonderful looking up at the stars from where I am. Living out in the country where there are very few lights and the night is very dark, its a spectacular sight that I never cease to be amazed by. The hour passed very quickly sitting out on the back steps with my daughter and grandchildren.
We can all do our little bit to help the world. Wouldn't it be wonderful if all third world countries that are emerging from that state could learn lessons from the mistakes we have made and not follow in our footsteps.

Thank you for sharing this, I try every day to think this way and I keep making progress. This winter I turned my thermostat down to 65 and it was so easy. I saved several hundred dollars and ENERGY...yeah! hollyo
