Today, I had my annual check up on my bladder cancer. Guess what: for the 5th time in a row my doctor gave me the "all clear" high five. What a guy ... and what a relief !!!
My urologist is also a fanatic bicycle rider. During the annual check up, he fills me in about his fantastic bicycle trips throughout Europe and he is very much interested in my motorcycle stories. My visits to him start to become an opportunity to update each other about our passions rather than a serious medical examination (which, of course, he does also). Every year, he asks me if i'm still not smoking and today he added that he could tell when seeing my belly. I wonder how they do it ... certainly smart guys, those doctors.
At the end of the day I would like to think that all danger is gone by now but that is only an illusion. I 'll have to keep up my guard for the rest of my, hopefully long an healthy, life. That is what he confirms me when he sees me off: "When living and well-being, see you next year, same time, same place".
