I'm proud to say I quit smoking 6 years and 7 months ago today! It seems like yesterday that I quit - it's like having a baby or some other life-changing event - you never forget what it took to get through it! It is so worth it!!

My son's fiance has been helping me sort and clean this 46 year-old-house house to get ready for some much needed repairs ... like the kitchen needs replacing, bathrooms and ceilings redone, and painting. I've had to delay it for too long for several reasons.

Among those reasons was quitting smoking.... I was determined to quit if it meant not moving from one spot for as long as it took. Quitting immobilized me. Some people clean house, paint, and move mountains - Me? I could not move other than to do basic survival things for months.

Geri is a dynamo - like the energizer bunny. We have been at it for 3 days and we needed a break today to sort through some stuff that only we can do. I used to go and help friends when they needed help, or got overwhelmed. A few days before Geri offered to help, I thought, "I wish I had a Charlene to come help me" - God must have heard my thoughts because she is a God-send.

I went to another doctor. He said my symptoms sound like the start of Parkinson's Disease. He wants me to go to another neurologist. I think a lot of my symptoms are from the stress I was under for so long. I continue to do many things for my health and they are helping - I feel stronger.

No matter where you are in your quit - stay quit - life is so much better!

Love you guys....

PS Did I tell you that my 27 year old grandsons wife had her baby in October? A precious little 6 lbs 13 ozs, 20 inches long baby girl!

Oh my gosh, great grandma.  How wonderful.  It feels great to get things sorted out doesn't it?  Good to see you.

Congrats to your new arrival of your granddaughter.   I am glad you are getting help with your cleaning and sorting...  I may need to borrow her    LOL..  I know what you mean about not wanting to do much the first couple months of a quit.. I am on one month (again)  and I feel like sometimes it takes alot for me to just get outta bed.. I am trying to fight that feeling off.. and keep going because I have so many people to rely on me.   Take care of yourself.    Happy Cleaning !   Have a great Thanksgiving.

I can do it..... I know I can.

Congrats on 6 years 7 months and the baby. I agree with the people here saying it would be nice to have someone to sort and clean with.

I was following a couple of teamates who did the AZ Ironman this weekend. What a tough distance!!! I am going to try it in 2011 in Canada.

How was the race for the boyfriend?
