For a whole weekend, I was sure I would be going to jail!!!!!!!
On Friday, the mail brought me a letter from the DREADED IRS!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was instructed to call during central time between 3 and 7.....So I dial only to be told the wait would be 45 minutes....I don't do well on hold!!!!!!!!
So Yesterday morning, I set the alarm for 6:00....got up and dialed at exactly 7 o'clock.  Since I am in Pacific time, those damn easteners had beat me!  The wait????  30 minutes.....So I worked the crossword puzzle, and 25 minutes later...a man answered IRS!!!!!!!!!!He asked for my SSN....address...phone...and told me he would put me on hold for 3 minutes while he accessed my return. He came back....and told me my return had checked out and even though I had e filed..It would be 4 to 6 weeks so get my refund!!!!!!!!!!
All that angst for nada!!!!!!!!   Himself handled all that kind of stuff...I had had an old friend who does taxes to do my return...I did it on Jan. 1st..
By this time, I had convinced myself that my room and board, and all medical care would no longer be a worry!!!!!!!
Boy was I wrong!!!!!!!!!!

Back several years ago (when I was still able to do our taxes)
I got a notification that the IRS was going to audit our return!!
Scared the baggenies out of me!!
Come to find out, that after they audited our returns,
they owed us more money!! lol!
They haven't audited any of our returns since! lol!
We had our's done back on March 2nd of this year,
and have already received our refund. Not sure why yours
will take so long

yearly audits were a regular thing for me
when I was traveling for my job.
I soon learned that some IRS agents like to intimidate,,,
but they really have little power, and asking to speak
with their supervisor usually takes the wind out of their sails

I hope all is well with you young lady,
we were all thinking of you and himself on April 1st.
you take care,,,

deal w/this stuff all the time, piece of cake, the IRS is not difficult if you know what the law is and you've got your ducks in a row....warm and fuzzy IRS now...and for the most part everything is done by computers...so their notices have gotten ridiculously in-accurate!

mine took a long time to get back this year also, and I was nervous (like you!)...I was told that IRS decided to install a new program around tax time this year and everyone had a longer wait.!  I was relieved, also.

You mentioned Cougar bait about Brandon.  You don't know how spot on you are.  He got picked up by a 36 year old last week when we went out for a drink.  He is 27.
