I just realised that it's been ages since I've posted here. I still log on every day, sometimes I just hit a few random posts, sometimes I just read the headings. Every time I see someone on day 3 or day 1 it just reminds me how valuable my quit is and how important it is to stay on it. I really don't want to go through all that again...Still struggling with my weight, I've gone from wetsuit size medium tall, to xlarge, and now down to large again. I keep telling myself that this summer I'll be burning more calories, swimming all day.
In my little town there's big excitement, the pro surf tour has hit town for their yearly contest here, you can actually check it out on billabongpro.com Besides the surfing there's music festivals and general debauchery, and it's awesome that this year I'm primed for all that, but without any worries about smoking! I remember last year I was still very nervous about making it through stuff like that without smoking. Now it's great that it's not even an issue.
But best of all I get to free surf with my heroes! Tom Curren's here, Slater, Occy too, all the legends. That's the brilliant thing about surfing, it's a bit like a golfer being able to play a round with Tiger. Only problem is that the surf's flat at the moment, but there's a decent cold front hitting tonight with some good swell predicted for next week.

Everything I know about surfing I learned from Frankie and Annette with a few words of wisdom from Gidget and the Grand Kahuna. It all sounds wonderful. Not dealing with the smoking hassle is pretty awesome, eh? I have to say I'm still loving the freedom. I don't think I'll ever get over the fact that I actually enjoying not smoking. Life is good.

I clicked around on the site and saw some action...pretty cool stuff there Mikey! I was born and raised on Galveston Island, so I'm no stranger to surfing. There were so many colourful surf shops on the seawall back in the day...I used to love to look at the decorated boards and all the brilliant neon colours.
I'm 54 and don't get around so great these days, so all of that is like a dream to me now. Thanks for the nice memories :) I know you will have a glorious time...how could you not? The water is gorgeous. Be careful out there my friend. How lovely that you don't have that effin addiction on your back spoiling everything. Life is good!

Wow!! so great and you sound wonderful. I don't come here every day, but imagine my luck to sign in today and see a post from you.
I went to Yosemite last weekend and to an indian casino while I was there..there was so much smoking at the black jack table where I had played that my hair stank like smoke when i got back to my parents house. I couldn't sleep until I got in the shower and washed my hair. I could not imagine smelling like that all the time.
So proud of you my tattooed friend.

I can't believe I actually get to respond to one of your posts!!
Sounds like your summer is sweet. I went to our little Riverfest this morning, but it was a bit disappointing this year, not much going on. I did get a very tasty barbecue sandwich by our local Barbecue Pit.
I, too, am battling the weight thing, it's annoying. I am so glad not to be smoking anymore! It is nice to just not to have to even think about it. Plus the last hike of taxes by our lovely governor did not take anything out of my pocket, na na.
I'm gonna go check out that website now. Enjoy, my friend!
