I had been taking Chantix and quit for 2 weeks so I decided that I would save money and quit taking the Chantix also. I relapsed and have now started taking the Chantix again and will be quitting. I smoked this morning, but have not had any since and plan to keep it that way so tomorrow morning will be day 1. Good luck to everyone!

Day 1 is the toughest, most definitely.  Day 2 stinks too!  , well, really, it all kind of sucks....  I am working on Day 4 now and although it hasn't been bad for me, it' not easy either.  Just try as hard as you can, that's all anyone can ever ask of you.

I took Chantix about two years ago during my first quit attempt.  It worked great!  But I hear you that it is expensive, that is why I quit taking it after 3 months.  And then I went back to smoking again, wish I would have stuck with it for the full six months.

It may seem like a lot to pay right now, but think about all of the benifits in the future.  How much money will you save not smoking?  Not paying for doctor's bills?

Of course living a long healthly life is priceless.

Stay strong!

WELCOME TO QSJ...AND CONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR DECISON TO QUIT SMOKING...!

We are all in this journey together...Please be sure to read..."Quit tips Journal" from QSJ home page...also do some extra reading at www.smokeworm.com and www.whyquit.com

I believe that preparation and lists are the key to quitting....working towards that Quit date, by writing a list on why you want to quit smoking, what you will do in place of smoking, the benefits of quitting and how you will approach quitting...(ie., Chantix, nicorette, cold-turkey, etc., )

Remember Knowledge is Power....!

Danielle, be sure to follow the directions to the chantix.....and know that you quit once with the drug....you can do it again...."Baby Steps"....!

Have a beautiful day...!

Hugs Colleen

Hello and good luck.  Read and post often it helps alot.  My husband started taking the Chantix 2 weeks ago.  He has cut back but has not quit smoking.  I told him that he must pick a quit date and have some will power - I believe he thinks that Chantix is  a miracle pill.   Let me know how it works for you.  Kay??    Nice meeting you.  Remember we all will help you.  You are not alone.
I can do it..... I know I can.

Thanks to everyone who wrote. Yeah I guess today is day 2. Chantix works for me just makes me really sick to my stomach. It does take will power too cause I still really want to smoke the urge just isn't as strong. What is hard for me is when I am upset or mad it is hard not to smoke. Don't know how to overcome that one. It is like I rely on them when I am mad even though they don't make it any better. My boyfriend hates that I smoke and some of the reason I decided to quit is for our relationship, but sometimes I find that I want to smoke when I am mad at him to make him angry and realize that I am only hurting myself. WOW!!!  Too many thoughts. Good Luck to everyone also.

Good luck on your quit, I like that you smoked and are getting right back to quitting.  My past was I'd fail and try again in 3 years LOL.

You sound very determined and that is great !
