Thanks to everyone who wrote. Yeah I guess today is day 2. Chantix works for me just makes me really sick to my stomach. It does take will power too cause I still really want to smoke the urge just isn't as strong. What is hard for me is when I am upset or mad it is hard not to smoke. Don't know how to overcome that one. It is like I rely on them when I am mad even though they don't make it any better. My boyfriend hates that I smoke and some of the reason I decided to quit is for our relationship, but sometimes I find that I want to smoke when I am mad at him to make him angry and realize that I am only hurting myself. WOW!!!  Too many thoughts. Good Luck to everyone also.

Congrats on day two...  I believe you do need will power to quit smoking regardless of what quit smoking aide you are using.  My husband has been taking the Chantix and he thinks that it will work miracles and make him quit without any withdrawl...  I have told him he is wrong and he needs to pick a quit date and get some nico gum to get him by his first few weeks.  But I can not force him to quit - he really needs to want to for himself.   Funny because I don't know if the Chantix is having any effect on him at all...  He seems to cut back during the work week, but on the weekends it is like he is not even taking the Chantix and is right back smoking his regular amount.   I wish it did make him sick maybe then he would quit...  Good luck to you...  You are doing great..

I can do it..... I know I can.

Thank you. Yeah it may be that he doesn't take it on the weekends because it takes about a week to get in his system so if he is not taking it on the weekends then it probably doesnt ever get into his system to work. Just an idea. I know when I started it the first time it took a week to start feeling it. In his own time hopefully he will make the choice.

You are doing great.  Day 2 is a hard day, you are proud you made it through the first day but wonder if the rest of the days will feel like day 1.

Each day it gets a little bit easier.  I'm on day 24. I still have craves, but they are less severe.

You are diong great !!!

HI DANIELLE....

YOU MUST WORK ON THE ANGER AND MAD.....FIGURE OTHER WAYS TO DEAL WITH BOTH EMOTIONS....

REMEMBER NON-SMOKERS, DONOT SMOKE WHEN THEY ARE ANGRY OR MAD....THAT IS PART OF THE JOURNEY ... TO START THINKING LIKE A NON-SMOKER...!

KEEP IT GOING SWEETIE AND HOPE YOU ARE HAVING A GOOD DAY....!

Glad you still taking the Chantix.  I used to get stomach cramps so bad when taking it I had to lay down for a while afterwards.  Just make sure your taking it will food.  A piece of bread or roll worked really well for me, or maybe it was just an excuse to have some carbs.

Hand in there, you can do it!  Have a good afternoon.

Yes Danielle, that is one of the many uses we had for cigarettes -- crutches. I have a real hard time with anger, too & I could not see myself living without cigarettes, because how would I muffle my anger, how would I get by those times? Well, I am not sure how I did it, but I have. It just happened. I have learned to explain myself when I am angry, not holler & its much more effective. But o those cigarettes, they were my anger sticks, my stress sticks, my crutches in many, many ways. Now -- looking back -- it seems almost silly, if it weren't so serious that it took me 45 years to figure it out.
Hang in. You can do it!
