why is it that a butterfly is generally regarded as a work of art which has been given life, while a moth is looked upon as hideous, untouchable. a vile, repulsive monster.

i think about stuff like this .

a lot.

i love the way you think and love it even more when you share. We have huge moths here that come inside sometimes and the children just LOVE looking at them. and I don't know really but I like them both.

How do you feel about crickets verses cockroaches?

Why does one bring good fortune and the other brings the Authority?

Now you have me wondering...

I hate it when that happens!

Not somethink I readily admit to in public but I have always thought butterflies were overrated. Take away the wings and you have one big old ugly bug.

Quick bug story....Little boy comes into my classroom last week on the first day of school. He puts his backpack down on the desk. As I'm moving about I notice a few bugs walking around. With horror I realize they're coming from the backpack. I gingerly open it and discover it is home to a very active roach nest. It was filled with roaches. Teacher runs, hysterically out the door and down the hall, etc...

If you want to know the truth, I think butterflies are a little suicidal.  When I go biking, the butterflies come straight for me.  I smack into more butterflies on the trail than you can shake a stick at.  I call them kamikaze butterflies.  Moths never fly at me.  Moths may not be as pretty, but they are much smarter.

omggggggggggggggggg Coach. Oh my ever livin g...I am about to run screaming out of here and I'm in my house! lololol

I happen to love moths, Joe. But roaches? Lord help the roaches that find their way into my house!

I have a simple philosophy---I leave everything alone, live and let live, until it comes after me or mine. Then all bets are off. Good to see a post from you sir!

I take a really philosophical view of this.  Sometimes our existence is cloudy, dark, and not what we would consider positive or attractive.  Then, through hard work, taking a moral inventory, we take some action, such as quitting smoking or any other addiction, and after the struggle, we emerge a beautiful, free butterfly to be admired and envied for our freedom.
