Honestly, 10 years ago, I did not see myself here. I really did not, but day by day, minute by minute of choosing life got me here. Also a LOT of massaging my ears/hands/feet as I breathe IN thru my nose over and over again. and tears, I REM crying so much at the beginning, wondering if I would like the new non-smoking me? I teased about buying stock in Kleenex. I had a hard year that year... 2001. I quit in July one week before a new job, then 9-11 happened and I still chose NOT to smoke. (I amazed myself) I told myself instead of quitting on New Year's I could smoke just one if I still wanted to; I did NOT! I kept putting myself off, saying, oh you are just tired, take a nap or bath instead. Oh you are just hungry, snack on something and then you can smoke if you still want.  Watch out for HALT being too hungry, angry, lonely or tired. They all can be triggers. Find and use the 6Ds. Write out what your goals are. keep them nearby to read and remember when you forget. Make a first aid kit to take with you. You are used to carrying sickerettes and lighter/matches so bring hand toys, healthy snacks, worry stone etc, to keep your hands and mouth busy. Or just suck air thru a straw; some really liked this. read in the Quit Tips journal to see much more advice.

chin hi, this is so absolutely awesome
not just the quit itself
but how faithful you have been to this site
and all of us who pass his way, suffering at first
if ever I want to cave, I promise you I will
email you first or even call. Whatever I can figure out
I am up to 22 months but I am a long ways from
feeling smug about my quit yet. and that is
what I love about you:
you have never gotten that way,
but you just keep your pure spirit.
love and admiration,
charry lou
