My mom's cancer has spread to her liver. She has two cysts. One is 7 cm, the other is 2.5 cm. Without treatment, they said that she will go quickly. With her treatment, they are giving her at least a year. Tomorrow she is having a pet scan to check her bones and her brain for cancer. That may change her diagnosis. I'm going to FL to be with her in the next few days. We are closing on our house and my 3 year old is throwing up so I can't be with her yet. In a way, it's nice to know that we must all say our goodbyes and to be prepared. On the other hand, I hate to see my mother suffer or in pain. She still seems healthy right now. It is so weird that she is dying. On Saturday all of her children and her siblings and her mom are going to be with her. We are having the first complete family get together in years. This is going to be so special for my mother. The thought of a cigarette did cross my mind yesterday. I just knew that it would feel so good in that moment, but I did not struggle, I just knew that like crack or cocaine or alcohol, it would not make anything better and that I did not need it. I really don't believe that I will ever smoke again. CIgarettes just cost too much money anyways. I'd be crazy to start smoking now that the prices are this high. I'm still so grateful to this board. Because of this board and the post on Inflammatory Breast cancer, my mother has had extra time to live. I will always be grateful. God Bless you all. Don't smoke!!
I don't smoke anymore because I don't want to be a smoker!!

Hi, I was afraid to read your post, because of the word Cancer. But I am glad I have.
Your family is a strong one, from what you are writing's. Some families don't want to face, it, so they hide, they fake it. And your so wise about not smoking, It won't change anything, well know it would make things worse, for you, To give Up a quit for a weaken moment.
so, your in the drivers seat, now! Feeling, and living things in your life. That is to be Very prod of yourself. Praying for you and your family, to Keep strong.........

Very touching & sad. My prayers are with your mom, your siblings, yourself. Life is so fragile, so difficult to hold on to, isn't it? God bless you on your journey.

So sorry for your news. Yes it's a mixed blessing to know when someone will leave us. You can prepare but you also are so sad. In the end I think it helps to know in advance so you get to have special time with the person.
Way to go on staying quit during this time. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Tanya, I'm so sorry about Mom, but I understand how you feel. I got peace from knowing I had time to say all I needed to say to my Mom before she died. Hospice kept her very comfortable with pain medications, and it was a healing time for us.
A prayer for your Mom that she does not suffer greatly, and that you get to be with her again. Best wishes on the closing and the sick little one too.
