On March 11th 2008 I joined the QSJ family...I have come and gone for 4 years. I was 28years old when I joined, I am now 31 and still a "smoker" though I detest the term it is what it is & I long to be a "non-smoker."

4 years-it blows my mind & so much has transpired in this period of time for me. I suspect in your lives as well, without a doubt! I have come here made this my home stayed for long and short periods....I'm not quitting cold turkey and I've used all the over the counter methods, and I don't want to take medication (i.e., chantix) so I need to make my adventure into quiting a process not an event.

Step ONE: Rejoined Site

Step TWO: Write Once Per Day, Read Posts, and Enter Chat Room

Step THREE: NO MORE SMOKING IN THE HOUSE!

I no longer drive now that I live in the city I don't have a car though I had quit smoking while driving years ago.

I hardly smoke at work bc I don't want people to even know about my addiction.

My target time: When I return home to an empty apartment night after night in a big city & I kick back with my computer and a pack a Marlboro lights and smoke half a pack...loneliness-stress-relief...So, my first step is a change in pattern. I will take my computer to the bedroom a room in which I NEVER smoke and I will only allow myself to smoke outside for these early weeks into my adventure into quitting.

It certainly will be a test to see if I drop from four packs per week to one very quickly! Let the scientific experiment begin! I will need to write later on how to replace the functions that smoking has served for me later.

I'm happy with my plan and it's my aim to engage in this plan for the remainder of April and then reassess my next step!

Thanks everyone for the support!

Kaylie

Hey! I remember you. Good luck with quitting, and congratulations with your success in your studies. It feels like just the other day that you were worrying about your internship.

Kaylie, I'm not sure if you remember me, It's Heidi. I remember joining around the same time. I too am in and out, but fortuately, not withmy quit. In June it will be four years. So, if I can do this, so can you. I'm hoping things got better with your social life, and you can move forward now.

I pop in from time to time, but life is busy for me these days, and haven't been around a whole lot. But at least every month, when Betsy reminds me of a lunaversary. She is such a doll. Anyway, welcome back. i will try to pop in more often and see how your plan is going. We are here for you. This is always the best first step.
lots of hugs
Heidi

Welcome back!  (((hugs)))

I love your background and your attitude.  You CAN do this and you know we are here for you!  Take it one craving at a time.  So glad to hear you are starting out not smoking in the house anymore.  That sounds like an awesome plan.  Just don't lock yourself out accidentally like I did one time.  It sucked cause it was midnight!  LOL

Looking forward to getting to know you.  Think positive and have a great weekend!

Kaylie, I read your last post,  and I'm writing something for you at http://www.quitsmokingjournals.com/forum/display_forum_topics.asp?memberID=72

It'll post on the homepage in a couple of minutes, but if you don't return for a while click the link above and look for it.
:)
Dig down deep and find whatever it is you need in order to quit. But be assured, IT IS THERE.

Sorry, you can NOT post a reply.
