Hi

We recently received the e-mail that you can see below if anyone is interested in participating in the study please let me know and I will obtain more information on the study

My name is Daniel Tao with the Cambridge Health Alliance & Harvard Medical School Division on Addiction. We recently started a new study on using online interventions to help users quit smoking. We are looking to find online smoking cessation communities to help recruit participants for the study. Kevin @ Woofmang suggested your website as a potential place to recruit.

With your permission, we would like to include your smoking community in our study. Ideally, we would like to create a new thread with some text introducing users to the study. We will also provide a link to the study page, where users can find more information about the study. I can provide you with the text we will use if that would help.

This post is not commercial in nature, but supports grant-funded research conducted by a non-profit group. All user information will be protected, and no unsolicited messages will be sent.

It would be great if you could either respond by PM or email to dtao@cha.harvard.edu with a decision. Any suggestions you can provide for other sites we could contact would also be most appreciated.

Please feel free to contact me at any time with any questions you might have.

Thank you very much for your time, and I look forward to hearing back from you in the near future. Have a great day.

Best regards,
Daniel Tao
Research Coordinator,

This sounds legit, is it Earl?
They don't say what type of study they are conducting.
They haven't given enough information to make
a knowledgeable decision.
