Imagination

How often do we imagine all the things that will happen prior to experiencing the reality of an event? And how often do we do ourselves a disservice with a negative imagination that may cause more stress than the real thing?

So many times we give ourselves too little credit for what we can handle, what we can accomplish. We tend to give in to negative thoughts of self-doubt, usually self invoked thoughts of failure. And there are times when we listen to others who feel weak or express their own self doubts, and in it all we build ourselves a fragile platform for launching changes we want to make for ourselves.

You need to believe in yourself that you can do what you set out to accomplish. You need to face your challenge with the reality it presents rather than imaginary scenarios gathered in moments of self-doubt.

Quitting smoking, taken one step at a time, is a goal well within reach of anyone who wants it. Yes it takes determination to fight craves. Yes, it may help to find support through medication or other support tools. But bottom line, it is your own self that determines the final outcome. And having yourself believe that you will be smoke free is a huge step towards living that goal, without any doubts.

Don't use your imagination to imagine failure . . . don't use your imagination to anticipate failure. Use your imagination to see yourself smoke free and addiction free. Use your reality to make it happen . . . You know you can make it possible . . .

Peter

Live life . . . live it smoke free . . . addiction free . . .

Being a serial quitter I would do just this thing. I was great at figuring out what was going to be hard rather than having a positive outlook. Psyche myself out before I even started a quit.

Thank you, good post as usual...why is that it seem to be so much easier to believe the negative, when it wud be so much easier to believe the positive? Cheers to positive thinking!

Great post.  I do this all the time. I psych myself out thinking something is going to go badly, and it usually ends up going 10 times better than how I thought!
