Well, I had an entire journal written, and I think I forgot to title it and poof it disappeared. LOL, I'll never have that one back...oh well.
One thing I mentioned in it is I noticed something yesterday. I spent my day cleaning and I noticed, for me anyways, cleaning lifts my spirits. Kinda like if I'm down in a lower cycle, tired, angry, or anything negative, it always makes me feel BETTER to clean. It keeps me busy, it brightens my surroundings and just overall makes me feel good about something when some stuff is just crap.
I slept like a rock, solid, with no interruptions or without getting up. Got home, laid down, fell fast asleep and slept through til 7am. Feel very rested.
Going to two bday parties today. One this afternoon, a surprise party, for a gf/client and then a bonfire party tonight for another good friend/client. Looking forward to drinking a cold beer or two tonight! Bonus, both parties are 3 to 5 miles away from home!
I am puppied out. I love Leonard, but since my daughter is still in school and working when she's not in school, I have had much more time invested in puppy sitting. He has developed a chronic biting problem I've been trying to combat. A firm no and a tap on the butt is not working. I am not a hitter and don't believe in hitting animals, but this is one I have never had to deal with. One of my friends who has Chihuahua's told me to stick my finger down his throat until he gags if necessary and say firmly NO! This seems to be somewhat effective, not completely gone yet. Anyone else out there dealt with this and have any other ideas or other things to do along w/this??? It's really a problem. He is very feisty, which I like, BUT, he gets excited, starts licking and then CHOMP, CHOMP CHOMP, and omg those sharp puppy teeth....ewww it hurts!!!
Have a great weekend everyone.
NO SMOKING!!
CHEERS!!

I have been giving him the bone too, when saying a firm no, but the biting continued and got worse. The finger downt he throat, so far, w/the firm NO, seems to be effective, but obviously won't happen over night...it takes repetition, but it got "better" right away, just not gone completely yet! He also has a barking problem, when he wants one of my big dogs to play w/him, lol, but I found if I clamp his nose shut tight and give him a firm NO, that seems to sink in! My ex-Frank, who has two of the pups still (one he is keeping and the other he is babysitting for his sister) said that sometimes just scruffing them and looking them in the eye w/a NO helps too! I havn't tried that yet, never been very good at scruffing and worry about dropping him!
Thought about trying squirting him in the face w/water when he bites, but havn't resorted to that YET!
Thanks Betsy, anyone else got any handy techniques I can try???
Thanks!

We used a small air horn for our Yorkie when he was small, and he did not like the noise at all! Saw it on the Animal Planet dog training show with that Brittish woman. You can get one at Wal Mart. We did not use it for biting, but for keeping him off the coffee table. And even today, if there is food on it (it is right at face level) he absolutely will not go near, even if we leave the house. It worked very well.

thanks Packy, I'm gonna try the airhorn technique for the biting and the barking...he has enormous ears and his hearing is SUPER sensitive so that along w/the gagging technique hope to break the cycyle of the biting and barking scenario SOON, before I lose my MARBLES, lol.
And to Peter, if I hadn't taken a Clonezapam, it would not have been that good of a nights sleep. I'm telling you, for insomnia and just good regular sleep, I highly recomend it. It's different from benadryl, when I awaken after taking one small mg of Clonezapam...I feel very rested and refreshed!! I have not had problems feelng dependant on it, it works well for insomnia and for anxiety discomfort, I highly recomend it! hollyo

Allow me to introduce you to my babay, Brutus.
He's a chihauhau also.
Smart, sweet, and of course adorable.
He loves everyone, people, children, cats, dogs, (especially big ones) horses, pigs, anything new and curious.
Yes, I have a pic of him kissing a horse. CUTE!
Anyway, he's still a pup, and he chews. We were lucky, becuse I always have toys, and chew bones around and he loes them. It has kept him away from the furniture and those things.
However, he nips with happiness, not out of anger. He chews our hands, and after a f ew licks, tends to chomp.
I wouldn't put my finger down his throat, but hand lenghwise back into his mouth so he can't reallb bite down.
I hope he does grow out of it, I think it's a puppy thing.
I have noticed When I don't fight him, he's more gentle.
I am trying to train him with soem repetive words. like of course, NO, and no bite, lick. Many times he starts licking instead. He does not realize he hurts us. He thinks you kiss me, I kiss you.
I hope I'm helpful. You are not alone.
Lots of hugs
Heidi
