I was sitting here at my computer and realized that in two days it will have been five months since my last cigarette. Unbelievable...
Now, I can go for days without thinking about cigarettes and I live in a country where they are everywhere! Everyone seems to have one stuck in their mouth, except for the women. They tend to keep their smoking behind closed doors.
The cravings have basically subsided and now I need to get back to the gym. There is some poundage that needs to be taken care of! Ugh.
On a more positive note, I just got back from Japan. It was a nice break from good ol' Korea. It was clean, green, and gorgeous. It kind of felt like I was cheating on ROK. Should I promise Korea that I'll never do it again? Nah!
I hope everyone is doing well and staying strong in your quits! Kate

Hi Kate - Congrats on your 5 months. I am glad you had a nice trip to Japan. I would love to go there. Don't think I will ever have the opportunity, but it would be nice to experience a whole different culture. Have a good day and a great weekend. I can do it..... I know I can.

Hi Kate,
Today is my first day of quitting. I found this website, but need to learn how to use it. How do I create a journal. Also how did you get through the first two or three days of quitting? Or if someone else is reading this would you please help me. I have tried so many times to quit. I just want to quit. My Spirit is willing but my flesh is weak. I don't want anymore excuses. I just want to quit for good.

That is soooooo cool. Before you know it you will be sitting there and realize it has been 5 years and it was not so tough after all. Keep your quit going.

You make me smile, Kate :) You have a great sense of fun and adventure. I wish I knew more about you, why you are there, where you were born, how long you'll be there. I've asked you before and you didn't answer, so I am supposing you wish to not speak of these things. That's okay, just great to see you!
Congrats on 5 WHOLE MONTHS! That's just huge! "When you quit, your forevers will come to you."

Kat,
Sorry, I totally would have answered your questions!
I'm a native Missourian who had a little too much time on her hands and needed to shake up her life, so I moved 7500 miles away from home to teach English to Koreans. I may also take over the country. Not sure about that one.
Teaching overseas was an idea that was planted in my head a few years back by a globe trotting friend that thought I would enjoy it. I thought I would too, but didn't have the guts and as always there were a host of other issues. Last year, I decided to quit my job and was looking for another path to take. I was looking online for a new job and saw an ad for teaching overseas; I made a phone call and that started the ball rolling. I left for Korea on June 16th of last year. My contract expires in June 2009. I'm not sure what's going to happen next.
There's my story. I left out the sortid details, but this is a family website.
I'm equally happy to see you! Kate
