otherwise known as Lockyer Waters, Queensland, Australia.
Well, I'm now officially retired. Can't say that I have been resting much or enjoying my leisure time as for the last couple of weeks I have been packing, cleaning, moving, unpacking and trying to find places to put all my stuff. For a small unit I managed to have a lot of stuff - plenty of cupboard space. Have a sore back at the moment, I think my days of helping to lift fridges and washing machines will have to be over. Arms don't mind the task but the back is certainly complaining. Went and had Bowen Therapy for my back and it is feeling much better - must remember to bend with the knees when lifting heavy things.
Work gave me a lovely send off. Sit down lunch (beautiful food and a glass of red) and some wonderful presents from the staff and partners. My lovely boss gave me a large number of petrol (gas) cards so I will not have to worry about paying for expensive petrol for some time yet.
Out here my daughter and her husband having several chicks, two roosters, two geese (I call them ducks with attitude), two ducks, a cat and a miniature horse (and now add Blue to the menagerie). They were supposed to be getting a bull calf (for eating purposes when he is grown) but he took off with a heard of cattle from next door and is yet to be found. If he ever turns up I won't be eating anything from an animal whose name I know. I think when push came to shove Billy the calf would probably have had a lot of years in front of him. They have two roosters, one who seems to crow all the time. They keep threatening to chop its head off but rooster is still here merrily crowing away. Wild ducks also fly in and join the geese and ducks in the dam. There were eight ducklings running around the other day but they quickly scurried off into the grass when we got near them.
Nice and quiet out here (except for crowing roosters and honking geese), if two cars go along the road it is called a traffic jam. I walk my grandchildren to the school bus every morning so I am getting plenty of exercise.
Will be attending a straw bale workshop in November in Mudgee, New South Wales. As well as learning how to build with straw bales, it will be me the opportunity to find out if it is feasible for me to build my granny flat using that sort of construction.
Hope everyone is healthy and smoke free and enjoying life.
Dewey

So glad to hear from you and happy that you're doing so well! I feel horrible for having not emailed you. Life's been crazy with school just starting and then my laptop got fried. Luckily I was able to borrow one until I can get out and buy one for myself.
You sound so happy!!! Take it easy with your back. I'm sure the grandchildren are loving you to pieces and the animals sound adorable.
Take care & please keep in touch.
Luv you my friend!!!!
